Summary Of Project:
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline (BTC) is an 1800km oil pipeline connecting the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil field in the Caspian Sea via Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Ceyhan, a port on the Mediterranean coast in Turkey, via Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
16 projects were selected and ranged from species conservation (Mediterranean Monk Seal, Green Sea Turtle, Caucasian Black Grouse), to ecosystem conservation (Ardahan Forests, Yumurtalık Lagoons, Erzurum and Ekşisu Wetlands) and strategic prioritisation for conservation projects (Gap Analysis, Important Bird Areas, Important Plant Areas).
Objectives:
- manage a small grants programme including evaluating proposals and monitoring and evaluation.
- providing technical assistance to grantees.
Key Achievements:
a system of results-based project monitoring developed.
