Climate Ambassadors (2022–2023)
Supporting the Meaningful Participation of Young People in Climate Action and Policy Dialogue (2023–2024)
Project Fund: UNICEF Türkiye
The first phase of the project aimed to strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of Türkiye’s Climate Ambassadors Platform.
The second phase focused on increasing the meaningful participation of children and young people in climate change decision-making and implementation processes. Within this framework, in cooperation with local governments:
• Trainings and workshops on ecological literacy, policy dialogue, and climate change were organized for Children’s Rights Committees, Adolescent Advisory Boards, and climate volunteers.
• Participatory activities supporting the child- and youth-friendly cities approach were carried out.
As a project partner, DKM:
• Managed monitoring and reporting processes of Climate Ambassador activities,
• Provided technical support in areas such as application processes, document preparation, and statement writing,
• Delivered training for children and youth on ecological literacy, policy dialogue, climate-related disasters, and green entrepreneurship, including in 2023 earthquake-affected regions,
• Produced educational content supporting ecological literacy.
Within 1.5 years, the project directly engaged with approximately 2,000 young people and collaborated with many public institutions and local governments. These institutions include:
• Presidency of Climate Change
• Ministry of Youth and Sports
• Ministry of Family and Social Services
• Giresun Municipality
• Lüleburgaz Municipality
