Summary Of Project:
Every Drop Matters Programme, supported by The United Nations Development Programme and Coca-Cola, stems from the idea that each drop of water becomes very important as clean water availability is decreasing everyday and supports water resources projects in Eastern Europe and Asia.
Nature Conservation Centre leads some pioneering projects supported by this programme by:
- Piloting and implementing product-based irrigation techniques
- Supporting local communities to use more efficient irrigation systems
- Promoting use of environment friendly organic fertilizer
Drought prone regions such as Konya Basin and Southeastern Anatolia, in which water is unefficiently consumed for agricultural prodution, are chosen to implement the projects.
Objectives:
Water conservation by replacing furrow irrigation, which is commmon in Kahta and the vicinity, with more efficient techniques and promotion of organic fertilizer usage
Key Achievements:
- Piloting and promotion of product-based water conservation techniques in the region
- Promotion of production and use of organic fertilizer
