Since its inception, DKM has focused on developing new tools and methods aimed at conserving biological diversity, promoting sustainable use and adapting to climate change by also monitoring applications in various parts of the world. DKM considers the development of feasible and implementable solutions as the key focus of the process.
DKM, in coordination with public and private sector partners, develops examples aimed at sustainable management and rational use of natural resources as alternatives to traditional conservation approaches by;
- Producing solutions for biodiversity conservation and natural resource management through comprehensive and innovative applications based on conservation biology,
- Working with government agencies from policy development to implementation and integration in forestry, agricultural practices and urbanization areas based on conservation biology,
- Implementing adaptation efforts to reduce the adverse effects of climate change on species, natural ecosystems and communities dependent on these ecosystems to enable their adaptation and increase their resilience,
- Endeavouring to establish necessary infrastructure in these areas.
