Global Biodiversity Framework calls on business for nature conservation!
The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which was signed by our country at the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, calls on states, non-governmental organisations, universities and the business world with 4 goals and 23 targets for the protection, sustainable management and restoration of nature all over the world.
Among the important goals to be achieved by 2030, the following stand out:
Goal 2: To effectively restore at least 30 per cent of degraded terrestrial ecosystems and inland water ecosystems, coastal ecosystems and marine ecosystems by 2030.
Target 3: Ensure the conservation of at least 30 per cent of the world's (terrestrial areas and inland waters, coastal areas and marine areas).
Target 10: Ensure sustainable management (conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, increased productivity and resilience) of all areas under agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries and forestry.
Target 15: Gradually reduce the negative impacts of business on nature, promote sustainable production models, make transparent disclosures, provide consumers with the necessary information and prepare reports.
Target 18: Identify nature-damaging incentives and ensure that they are significantly and progressively reduced by at least USD 500 billion per year; scale up positive incentives for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.
Business-related actions focus on reducing harmful impacts on nature and promoting sustainable production models.
We all have a duty to protect, sustainably manage and restore our nature in order for our country to reach the targets in this framework.
