Summary Of Project:

The project aimed at evaluating legal and technical background for emission reduction certification for the afforestation/reforestation projects and preparing a roadmap for Turkey.
The project showed that some industrial sectors show interest in afforestation projects for offsetting their emissions in case of a future compulsory emission reduction scheme. Furthermore, the private investors want to obtain additional carbon reduction revenue their fruit tree plantations.  

Objectives:

Develop the capacity for Turkey to effectively assess the options to enter the international forest carbon markets with reforestation/afforestation projects.

Key Achievements:

Developed a reference document outlining the procedures and lessons learned for preparing a reforestation/afforestation carbon certification project.
